I help women and business owners feel calm, confident, and in control with their money in real life, not just on a spreadsheet.
After more than 30 years as an accountant, financial adviser, mortgage broker and business owner, I’ve seen one thing again and again: smart, capable women feeling behind, embarrassed or shut out of money conversations they absolutely deserve to be part of.
These days, my work is all about changing that.
I’m a mum to three young-adult men, a wife, and these days I share the house not only with my beautiful Border Collie, Frankie, but also Wally, our gorgeous new Labrador who’s brought a lot of smiles (and chaos) back into our world.
We’ve loved and lost beautiful dogs over the years, so I know how special they become in a family.
I’d describe myself as straight-talking, down-to-earth, dog-loving finance nerd who genuinely enjoys numbers not because they’re “perfect”, but because they tell a story we can actually work with.
When I’m not talking money, you’ll probably find me sewing little dresses for my granddaughter, cooking, or sipping strong coffee while cheering on the boys at sport.
For almost two decades, I’ve run 123 Financial Group, a financial services business based in Newcastle. Over those years, I helped clients with tax, financial advice, loans and everything in between.
But what stood out to me wasn’t just the technical side of money.
It was how many women felt out of their depth, silly or “bad with money” simply because no one had ever explained things in plain English.
I’d watch brilliant women switch off in meetings, then quietly ask me later, “Can you just tell me what that actually means?”
It was never a lack of intelligence.
It was a lack of financial literacy and no safe, judgement-free space to learn.
That’s what led me to create “My Money Makeover”, and to shift my focus away from traditional financial planning into education, coaching and practical tools.
Now my work lives here at JenRichardson.co. Instead of managing people’s money for them, I teach them how to understand it and feel confident guiding it themselves.
Everything I offer has one purpose: to help you feel steady, informed and in control with money, whether it’s in your household or your business.
Underneath all of it is the same philosophy: small, realistic changes, explained clearly, with plenty of support along the way.
I grew up watching my own mum sit in financial meetings feeling “silly” and out of her depth, even though she was one of the most capable women I knew. Dad handled the finances because that’s just what couples did back then.
Later, I saw the same pattern in clients, friends and women all around me.
They want to feel confident with money.
They want to be part of decisions.
They want security, independence and options.
They just don’t know where to start or who to ask without feeling judged.
My mission is to change that.
I want women to have the tools, language and confidence to sit at any table with a partner, adviser, bank or business mentor and know they understand what’s going on and can ask good questions.
Seeing a woman go from…
“I’m hopeless with money”
to
“I actually know what I’m doing now.”
… is why I do this work.
If you’re looking for someone to dazzle you with jargon or tell you to never buy a coffee again… that’s not me.
If you’re looking for:
…then we’ll get along just fine.
You don’t need to be “good with money” to start.
You just need to be willing to look at it and I’ll walk you through the rest.
If you’d like to feel calmer and clearer with money, you’re welcome to:
Wherever you are right now, you’re not behind.
This is just where we start from.

She is passionate about ensuring women and business owners have the tools, confidence and know-how to enjoy financial security, independence and freedom.
Hi there! I’m Jen (no-one except my mother calls me Jennifer these days) and I am the founder of these exciting new initiatives you’ve stumbled upon called Got Money Honey and the Business Growth Academy.
A big, warm welcome!
I am a successful business owner, a wife and a mum to three young-adult men and two crazy dogs – Frankie, the Border Collie and Reggie, the Chesapeake Bay Retriever (you may have to look that one up!).
I’d describe myself as a straight-talking, down-to-earth, dog-loving, finance-nerd.
And a cheerful, extroverted workaholic.
In my spare time, I enjoy sewing, cooking and sipping strong coffee while cheering on the boys at Saturday morning sport.
My own mum is a perfect example. When she and Dad used to visit their financial planner (some years ago now), Mum would often tell me how out of her depth and silly she felt that she didn’t understand what the adviser was talking about. After these meetings, she would usually ask me to explain the concepts in everyday terms she understood.
Of course, how could she be expected to understand some of these concepts when she had never been taught them? And Dad had always managed the family’s finances, as was common in those days.
I have seen this lack of confidence and understanding time and time again, with my female clients, girlfriends and other family members.
Some worry about the future; about their security and retirement prospects. Others are exhausted by the constant struggle with their cash flow and the dread of unexpected bills. Some just feel totally out-of-the loop when it comes to money matters and embarrassed that they don’t know more.
They WANT to be more confident with their money.
They WANT to feel empowered and independent.
They WANT to take control and feel secure.
They WANT to live their lives to the fullest.
The problem is, so often they simply don’t know where to start or where to get advice.
So, over the years my mission became clear. I wanted to make sure
that women had that confidence, that women were financially savvy enough that they could take part in financial conversations either with their friends, their partners or their advisers. And that they felt in control of their money, and confident about the future.
I knew I needed to find a way for women to educate themselves that was at their own pace and at times that suited them.
And so Got Money Honey was born. A collection of online, self-paced money courses in plain English, with no-judgement and the support of myself and a gorgeous community of other like-minded women.
The courses are designed to be engaging, practical and easy-to-digest (some have even said fun!) – and I’ve added in some powerful tools and templates to make it even easier for women to get organised…and stay that way!
I am so incredibly passionate about and committed to this initiative (my fourth baby I like to call it!), because I see everyday the real difference it is making in women’s lives.
But more than just helping women take control of their personal finances, I also wanted to support women running business. Having run a small business for nearly 20 years, I know what it takes to survive and thrive in the world of female entrepreneurship – and nothing gives me more satisfaction than seeing other women succeed in their business endeavours.
Through my Business Growth Academy, I am now able to teach women business owners how to make their business work harder for them. By helping them to better understand their numbers (and the story that those numbers are trying to tell) these women can streamline their processes, maximise their profits and start to thrive in business.
It is the ongoing coaching of women that really shows them what potential they have – both with their business and in their personal lives.
And it is this that makes doing what I do so fulfilling; knowing that what I have taught someone has really had an impact on their life.
Nothing is more rewarding than seeing women achieve life’s three freedoms: Financial Freedom, Time Freedom and Mind Freedom.
When women succeed, the world succeeds.
